AD Group tie up with Cheever Racing
30th December 2005
AD Group, prime sponsors of the RML Le Mans LMP2 winning MG Lola have announced a tie up with Cheever Racing for the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2006.
Mike Newton’s AD Group will be bringing all three drivers from their class winning 2005 Le Mans effort to the brand new Cheever Racing NetVu Video Lexus-powered
Crawford.
Tommy Erdos, Mike Newton and Warren Hughes will be joined by a, yet to be named fourth driver in Cheever Racing’s #51 Lexus Crawford which will run alongside their
#39 car which will be driven by Eddie Cheever Jr., Christian Fittipaldi and Patrick Carpentier.
All drivers will be at Daytona International Speedway for the official Rolex 24 Test Days on January 5, 6 and 7th.
Team owner Eddie Cheever Jr. said, “AD Group’s recent success at Le Mans will be a strong asset for Cheever Racing’s first Rolex 24 at Daytona. One of the greatest
challenges to finishing a 24 hour endurance event is getting all the drivers to work together. This group’s success at Le Mans is a very convincing argument in
inviting them to join our team. This second car will greatly enhance our chance of succeeding at Daytona. Things are really coming together for this event with our
partnerships with Lexus, TRD, Crawford and now NetVu Video. We are all having a lot of fun and looking forward to the competition.”
