GP2 Fat Burner at Silverstone

Alfonso de Orleáns Borbón - 'Silverstone has a special place in my heart'

This weekend the fourth round of the 2009 GP2 Series takes place at the legendary Silverstone Circuit. It is the last time Silverstone forms part of the F1 and GP2 calendar as the British Grand Prix will be held at the Donington Park Motor Racing Circuit from 2010. After having scored its first victory of the 2009 season a fortnight ago in Turkey, Fat Burner Racing Engineering heads to the British track hoping to build on its latest form and results, as explains team president Alfonso de Orleáns Borbón.

Alfonso, Fat Burner Racing Engineering's start into the season was not as planned, but in Turkey the team
finally scored its first victory of  the Year. Are you pleased with the overall performance so far?

We always had the performance, so I am very pleased on that front. The only problem were the accidents or
inconveniences the drivers had during qualifying which pretty much ruined the weekend. Even so, Lucas managed to
get a decisive win in Istanbul.

What can we expect from Fat Burner Racing Engineering during this weekend in England, the fourth round of the GP2 2009 season?

Well, we are not going to really change anything except improve on our qualifying form and avoid others crashing into us. If we manage this, I don't think we should have any problems getting decent results.

What are the technical challenges the teams will face at Silverstone?

Quite a few, but I think we will keep these to ourselves for now...

How is Fat Burner Racing Engineering approaching this weekend?

Same as all weekends. With dedication, effort and a lot of common sense.

GP2 Series travels to Great Britain to race in Silverstone for the last time. What are your feelings about a circuit with such a history not forming part of the calendar next year?

As a driver in my day, it was one of my favorite circuits so it has a special place in my heart. But aside the personal feelings, I think that it's a fantastic drivers circuit that allows overtaking in many areas, which is great for the fans as well. Overall, it has great facilities for the GP2 teams, possibly one of the best of the season. So it will be a real pity to be there for the last time with GP2. As for the future, who knows! I might come back to do a classic race or two. I love the place!
