Masters’ Mini adventure gains Impish additions

18th March 2010

Masters Historic Racing’s new Pre-1966 Mini series will gain additional entries for its maiden season with the introduction of a new class.

The category will allow Hillman Imps and derivatives of up to 1000cc into the new championship running in the “Imp-vitation” class. The move is aimed at offering owners of the popular little cars a place to race without being outgunned by the more powerful 1300cc models.

Top Hat Event Manager, Tim Beavis, welcomed the news: “Masters Historic Racing is as inclusive as possible and we welcome anyone to race with us. We react to competitor demand as best we can and are pleased to be able to respond to the wishes of owners of these great little cars by offering them a place to race in a competitive arena. Historic racing should never ignore the club racer on a limited budget. If that means he can only afford to race a one-litre Imp, he shouldn’t be ignored and we welcome him to Masters Historic Racing grids.”

The new Pre-1966 Mini series kicks off at Snetterton on April 18th as part of the opening Top Hat event of the season. It has gained backing from Swiftune which has commissioned a spectacular trophy for the champion, a chrome cylinder head mounted on a wooden plinth and it is sure to be fiercely fought over.
