Millroy considers British F3

Following a strong finish to the year in Formula BMW, British Race Elite Academy driver Ollie Millroy is seriously considering offers to move up to the British Formula 3 Championship in 2009. The eighteen year old BMW junior development driver from Claygate, Surrey has received a lot of interest from top teams, following impressive recent testing and will make a decision during the next few weeks.

After fourteen races in thirteen different countries, Ollie finished his ‘rookie’ year with a win in Shanghai, a second place podium in Singapore and a sixth place finish in the world final and still found time to test F3 in between races.

“I have had a good end to the year and since changing teams after the European Championship, Kent based Motaworld Racing and I have had some excellent results. We both felt that we had something to prove and we certainly did that to the extent that we ended up as one of the favourites to win the world final”.

“Motaworld and BMW would love me to do a second year in the Championship and although we haven’t written this off I have to seriously consider coming back to the UK to race in F3. I have been testing and I felt at home in the car straight away and absolutely love it. Although the BMW championship is very competitive, because of its lack of power the car is not a particularly easy to drive whereas the F3 car has a lot more speed and down force and suits me fine. It’s fantastic to drive and I feel very confident with it”.

“I need to be up and running at the beginning of the season next year and it’s important that I am with a good team and test with them as much as possible. There is a lot happening and I am speaking with a lot of people at the moment and until a decision is made I will just keep training hard and keep myself fit”.
