Motorbase to take sabbatical from Porsche Carrera Cup GB

22nd February 2012

The Kent-based squad first joined the Carrera Cup GB in 2004, the year the team formed, and have competed at the very top of the championship for seven of the past eight years. In addition to winning the prestigious Teams’ Championship title in 2010, the Motorbase team has an enviable on track record with an impressive 26 race wins to date.

Team Principal David Bartrum confirmed the news earlier today stating: “I love the Carrera Cup, but we were looking for a new challenge for 2012. This isn’t an ending, it’s a sabbatical. Give us a year or two and we’ll be back. Carrera Cup has been a big part of our team and Porsche will always be part of our future.”

Hinting at other areas the team are working on he added: “We’ve been really busy behind the scenes for the past few months and have a number of exciting plans in the pipeline for this year and that’s where our focus will be.

“We’re not quite in the position to make any announcements at this moment in time, but we’re close – all will be revealed very soon.”

Motorbase Performance plan to be back competing in the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship once more as they challenge for the overall title fielding three Ford Focus ST NGTC powered cars. Further announcements regarding the team’s plans are expected to follow shortly.
