Bruichladdich Radical miss out on points

Le Mans Series 2007 - 1000km of Nurburgring, Round 3

Qualified: LMP2 Class 4th

Overall 12th ,

Race:    LMP2 Class 9th Overall 35th

Nurburgring was not the event-free race that the team had hoped for when starter motor issues cost the team time in the pits and a points finish in today’s race.

Stuart Moseley started the race and made progress quickly getting into fourth place overall and second in class. It was only taking on more fuel than ASM at the first pit stop that cost a class position to the Lola and so after just over two hours Stuart brought the car back for fuel, tyres and to hand over to Tim Greaves.

The SR9 wouldn’t restart after the stop and after an elimination process a problem with the wiring to the starter is suspected to have caused the fault. The stop cost just under 30 minutes from where it was going to be impossible to recover and points looked only possible if others suffered issues.   Tim put in a great double stint pushing hard all the way through.

Handing back to Stuart with just over an hour remaining the SR9 refused to start again – this time a problem with the starter motor itself. Although only a few minutes were lost it made Stuart’s mission even tougher. Out on the track he showed his determination by putting in consistently quick laps despite traffic and managed to put in the second fastest LMP2 lap time in the final thirty minutes of the six hour race.

Points are awarded for finishing in the top eight but the charge wasn’t enough to earn points for the team’s hard efforts.

Tim Greaves, Team Owner and driver

“Today has been a big disappointment with such a small problem having a huge impact on our result. We’ll be doing what we can in the break before Spa to make sure we don’t suffer the same fate again. It will be good for the team to be able to have a decent break after Le Mans and then this race so close. We all deserve a decent result so we need to look forward to achieving that at the next round.”

Round four of the Le Mans Series will be held on 19th August at Spa, Belgium.
