WTCC season finale for N.Technology

N.Technology is heading to Macau this weekend for the final FIA World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) event in 2008, where driver James Thompson will be joined by regular guest André Couto.

The Italian team, which has secured seven top ten finishes so far this season with the Honda Accord Euro R Super 2000 and Thompson, including a win and third place in Imola, is hoping to end the season on a high note with the help of Macau-expert Couto.

"I had a chance to test the car straight after the last WTCC rounds in Okayama," said the 31-year-old driver. "It's very different from last year's N.Technology car but I found my bearings quickly and feel confident for this weekend. If James and I can have clear runs in qualifying and stay out of trouble during the races, we have the speed to get some good results!"

This weekend marks N.Technology's 18th year in touring car racing, the outfit began competing in 1991, and driver James Thompson is hoping to give his team something to celebrate.

"This year has been full of mixed fortunes," reflects Thompson. "We had a difficult start but we also enjoyed some superb results. Imola was an amazing weekend, we truly appreciated our win and third place, as well as finishing fourth in Okayama.

"Macau is a very tricky circuit, with limited opportunities for overtaking so qualifying will be more important than ever. André will be carrying a lot of ballast, the maximum of 70 kg in fact, and I will have 24 kg on board, which will make things more challenging but we are prepared."

Eurosport's WTCC coverage begins Sunday 16 November with Qualifying at 00.00 (CET) followed by Race One and Two shown live from 04:55 (CET) on Eurosport International and Asia Pacific.
