at the British Racing Drivers’ Club Awards 2009

Formula 1 driver Mark Webber has been awarded The Innes Ireland Trophy, for his qualities of sportsmanship and achievements within the British Motor Racing industry during 2009. Presenting this prestigious award for the second consecutive year was Deutsch UK at the annual British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC) awards luncheon, held in London.

Each year, the BRDC awards celebrate the successes and accomplishments of some of the most talented people within British motor racing, both UK and Internationally. The Innes Ireland Trophy is awarded to the British driver who displays courage and integrity for the sport, epitomized by the late Innes Ireland.

David Watters, Global Head of Autosport, comments: “It is an honour to present such a distinguished award, particularly with the values it stands for. Throughout racing history, there have been fantastic advancements in technology used; however, it is the integrity of our drivers that keeps the spirit of the sport alive.”

The awards attract anyone who is anyone in the racing world and are eagerly attended by many famous faces in British motorsport, highlighting the huge impact UK design and talent has on a global scale. In addition, all cars that won championships in 2009 carried British designed products, including Deutsch Autosport connectors.
