Voyazides wins Oulton-Donington Challenge

Leo Voyazides claimed honours in the Oulton-Donington Challenge last weekend, aimed at rewarding competitors who raced at both the Masters Oulton Park event and the HSCC’s Donington season opener.Prolific Greek racer Leo took a win in the Pre-66 Touring Car race at Oulton Park in his Ford Falcon and finished second there in his Lola T70 in World Sportscar Masters. In his final race at Oulton Park, he shared his AC Cobra with Simon Hadfield and finished second in the Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT race.A day later at Donington Leo took his AC Cobra to 11th place in the Guards Trophy race, but backed up his Oulton success with a win in the V8 Historic Touring Car race in his Ford Falcon. Leo’s success across the two events netted him a magnum of Champagne.Mike Whitaker also enjoyed a successful weekend with a narrow win at Oulton Park in the Gentlemen Drivers race and a second place a day later at Donington in the Guards Trophy race.Masters Historic Racing Event Manager Rachel Bailey said: “Congratulations to Leo Voyazides for his great results over the weekend. Racing at two different venues in two days and leaping from car to car and adapting so quickly is not easy and Leo is a deserved winner having supported both events with a number of his cars.” Grahame White, Executive Director of the HSCC, said: “The idea of rewarding drivers who competed in both meetings was very well received and we are pleased to congratulate Leo on his success.”
