Classic Endurance will be one of the much-appreciated, eagerly-awaited support races at the British round of the FIA World Endurance Championship at Silverstone (24-26 August). After Nogaro, Spa and Imola it is the fourth and secondlast event of the season for the many CER entrants.

Classic Endurance Racing was created in 2004, and is now in its ninth year. It takes place all over Europe and is very popular with spectators who relive the battle between historic cars that provided such exciting racing between 1966 and 1979.

The bulk of the field is made up of Lolas (T70s, T292, T298s etc) and Chevrons (B16s, B21s, B36S), and they will do battle with BMW M1s, Ford GT40s, Matra 670s, Porsche 911s, 935s and 936s, the Sauber C5, and the very rare TOJ SC 204. A total of 42 cars have been entered for what will be a no-holds-barred battle on the famous British circuit as a curtain-raiser to the next round of the FIA World Championship.

Despite their age these cars are very quick and reliable.

There are several victory contenders beginning with Frenchman Michel Quiniou who won hands down at Imola in his Lola T280. He will be up against his fellowcountrymen Patrice Lafargue (Lola T298) and Frdric Da Rocha (Lola T298), Austrian Michael Fveny (Porsche 935) and Stphane Gutzwiller (Chevron B16) from Switzerland who will all be out for revenge after the Italian event. The British pairWatson/OConnel are determined to shine on home turf after winning on the trot at Nogaro and Spa.

After the British race, Classic Endurance Racing will hold the next event for its ntrants and spectators in the south of France, the Dix Mille Tours du Castellet, hich will be the closing round of the 2012 season.
