Belshaw KTM returns to the GT Cup Grid

The distinctive KTM X-bow will be making a welcome return to the GT Cup Championship grid at Brands Hatch on the 18th/ 19th August. The car will be driven by former GT Cup Group winner Peter Belshaw and will be run by Cheshire based team ABG Motorsport.

Belshaw returns to the championship having last competed in the GT Cup in 2010, the highlight of which was achieving a Group 2 win in the KTM in the seventh round of the season at Spa Francorchamps.  In 2011 he won the GT4 class of the British GT Championship and most recently has been racing in Europe contesting the Blancpain Endurance Series in an Audi R8.  He returns to The GT Cup Championship fresh from a successful debut in the prestigious Spa 24HR race, where his team finished an impressive 14th overall and 9th in class.

“Having spent my early GT career racing in the GT Cup I am looking forward to returning to the Championship at Brands Hatch, it will be interesting jumping back into the KTM after racing the Audi this season.” Commented Peter Belshaw

In addition to the KTM X-bow ABG Motorsport will be running the stunning McLaren MP4-12c GT3 for father and son pairing Jim and Glynn Geddie and a Group 3 Porsche 996 for GT Cup regular Colin Broster.  Jim Geddie took double victories at the last GT Cup round at Oulton Park, marking the new McLarens first race win on UK soil.

The KTM joins a host of exotic GT Machinery racing on the Grand Prix circuit at Brands Hatch, including models from Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, Audi, Mosler, Viper, Chevron, BMW, Lotus and Ginetta.  This is the GT Cup championship’s second visit to the Brands Hatch this year and the sixth round of the season.
