JD Clasics five strong entry set for Goodwood Revival

Classic car specialist JD Classics will return to the Goodwood Revival on 14-16 September 2012 bolstered by five diverse entries.

The Goodwood Revival is a historic motorsport event that offers visitors the opportunity to relive a bygone golden era of motor racing at the iconic Goodwood circuit, and the 2012 event has an estimated 600 million worth of vehicles attending.

The JD Classics prepared 400 bhp Costin Lister period race car had its last outing at the Silverstone Classic where it won against a 40-strong field in the Stirling Moss Trophy. It is also a Goodwood Revival Sussex Trophy regular, having been runner up in 2008 and third in 2010. JD Classics Derek Hood will be racing the car for 2012.

Another JD Classics prepared entry is an E-type for the one hour, two driver RAC TT Celebration race. This will be driven by historic racing driver John Young and Le Mans 24 Hour driver, Nicolas Minassian.

Through JD Classics role as the official works team of Jaguar Heritage Racing, the ex-Fangio C-type, a D-type and the only surviving Works Race Mk 7 saloon represent the Heritage Works entries. The C-type will be driven by successful Jaguar Heritage Racing works driver Alex Buncombe and John Young in the Freddie March Memorial Trophy, while the D-type will be driven by Alex in the Sussex Trophy.

The Mk 7 will appear in the St Marys Trophy. A two-part race where Le Mans 24 Hour driver Andy Wallace will share the enormous saloon with JD Classics Derek Hood, among a varied field of saloons built between 1950-1959.

Based on the success of the 2012 season so far, the combined driver and car entries from JD Classics and Jaguar Heritage Racing will provide the Goodwood Revival grids with some strong competition.

Derek Hood, Managing Director, JD Classics commented:  The Goodwood Revival is always a highlight of the JD Classics historic racing calendar. The event has a unique atmosphere of days gone by and the five cars we have entered this year should yield some strong results.
