Group C joins Masters Barcelona weekend

The annual Masters Historic Racing visit to Barcelona will include races from the Group C Racing Series. The cars will form a key part of the Catalunya Classic Revival at the Barcelona circuit on April 13/14, 2013.

The evocative cars, from the golden age of sports car racing from the 1980s to early 1990s, will have two 40-minute qualifying sessions and two 30-minute races on the current home of the Spanish Grand Prix, a circuit that should be ideally suited to Group C machinery.

Masters Historic Racing Event Manager Rachel Bailey said: We are delighted that we have been able to agree the involvement of Group C Racing for the Barcelona event. The cars are the perfect complement to our own grids of Grand prix, GT and touring cars and will be a big hit with the fans.

For Group C Racing, series director Bob Berridge said: Barcelona is the ideal venue for Group C cars. To race on a contemporary Grand Prix circuit is excellent news for our drivers and with plenty of track time, I am sure that we will have an excellent entry. To have a grid of Mercedes, Porsche, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Nissan, to name but a few, will provide an awesome spectacle and one I am sure will be a highlight of the weekend.

The third Catalunya Classic Revival, organised by Spanish motor sport entrepreneur Jesus Pozo, will run over the weekend of April 13/14 and include races for Grand Prix Masters, Gentlemen Drivers Pre-66 GT Cars, Pre-66 Touring Cars and World Sportscar Masters in addition to Group C.
