GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES introduces high-profile improvements for 2013

GTSPRINT ANNOUNCES 2013 SCHEDULE FEATURING EIGHT 60-MINUTE DOUBLE RACES AND FIVE CLASSES (GTS2, GTS3, GTS CUP, GTS OPEN AND GTS CHALLENGE).

The GTSPRINT INTERNATIONAL SERIES, welcoming the best Grand Touring racers in motorsports, is ready to be back in 2013 with the aim of establishing its name in international motorsports. The series, promoted by SWR (SUPERSTARS WORLD OF RACING) will be featuring several improvements starting from the new schedule. Eight rounds will be held together with the SUPERSTARS INTERNATIONAL SERIES for an even more international flavour.

The championship will also introduce an improved race format with two 60-minute races featuring a mandatory pit-stop between minute 25 and 35. A driver change won't be required as single-driver teams will still be able to participate. In qualifying, two 15-minute heats will be setting the grids for the two races, while the practice sessions will be extended to 1 hour each.The season opener is scheduled for the 6th and 7th of April at the "temple of speed" of Monza, while some fresh new venues will be coming in the following couple of months. The GTSPRINT stars are set to line-up for the first time at Brno (May 19), Slovakia Ring (June 9) and Zolder (June 23), while Portimo will be back hosting the series on the 21st of July. Teams and Drivers will then move to Donington Park, a SUPERSTARS-only venue in the last couple of years. The races will be held on the 1st of September, while after a short break action will resume on September the 29th at Imola. The series' grand finale will be held at a yet-to-be disclosed venue in Italy. The location will be announced in a few months. 

Seven titles will be awarded in 2013. In addition to the overall series, there will be a championship title for teams as well as for each of the classes including GTS2, GTS3, GTS Cup, GTS Open, a new category, GTS Challenge, introduced to accommodate the Porsche 997 Model Year 2010 racecars. Spec supplier Hankook Tire will be back to the SWR championships for 2013, while the competition weight scheme will be replace by a new time handicap system.
