Pirelli signs sponsorship deal with Porsche Club GB

Pirelli, the official tyre supplier to Formula One, has signed a minimum three-year deal to sponsor Porsche Club Great Britain.

Founded in 1961, Porsche Club GB is the only officially recognised Porsche Club in the United Kingdom. As part of the new agreement, Italian tyre firm Pirelli has confirmed it will support Porsche Club GB financially and provide the Club with tyres as well as on-event technical expertise.

A strong Pirelli presence will be felt at a number of Porsche Club GB events over the course of the year including the Clubs national event, to be held this year at the Silverstone Classic Festival, taking place July 2628. Pirelli will attend other events with the Club too, including the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed this July and the Classic Motor Show at the NEC in November.

The new agreement also means that Pirelli will become the official tyre supplier to the increasingly popular Porsche Club Championship, a 16-race series specifically designed for production-based Porsches.

Pirelli UK Marketing Director Wayne Nickless, said: I am delighted to announce our new partnership with Porsche Club Great Britain and feel that both parties will genuinely benefit from this collaboration. There is a great deal of synergy between Pirelli and Porsche, with both brands producing a premium product in the automotive sector. We look forward to a long and mututally beneficial relationship with Porsche Club GB.

Pirelli UK Tyre Motorsport Operations Manager Matthew Corby added: Our new partnership with Porsche is fantastic news for the company.  Pirelli has a strong track record of working with Porsche and the new partnership is a perfect opportunity to officially reaffirm our association with such a prestigious marque.  We look forward to an exciting number of races with Porsche over the course of the season.

Nick Hine, Chairman of Porsche Club GB commented: Pirelli is synonymous with delivering high-performance excellence for Porsches. Whether our Members are enjoying track days, competing in the Porsche Club Championships or out driving on the UK's open roads, Pirelli's sponsorship is welcome news for all PCGB Members.

Brendan Daly, Chairman of Porsche Club GB Motorsport added: Porsche Club Great Britain and Porsche Club Motorsport are delighted to have concluded this new sponsorship agreement with Pirelli. Over the coming years we look forward to a mutually advantageous partnership with such a renowned company.

Paul Seagrave is a committed racer as well as being a Director of Porsche Club Motorsport and the Clubs Regional Director. He is excited at the prospect of a new partnership with Pirelli. Seagrave commented: The new relationship between Pirelli and the Porsche Club Championship will offer an extra dimension as we will be using slick and wet racing tyres for the first time in many years. This should make the racing very exciting as drivers adapt to the new grip levels in all weather conditions. To help with this transition Pirelli will be offering full technical support to all the championship competitors during the season. As a competitor I cannot wait for the first round of the championship at Donington; the speculation stops and the action begins to see who is the fastest with the new tyres.

The Clubs Motorsport Manager, Steve Kevlin, also welcomed the new agreement. Renewing the Porsche Club relationship with Pirelli will be good for the Clubs competitors and our motorsport overall. A move to slick tyres will increase the level of competition and improve lap times and we look forward to the next three years providing stability to the Clubs motorsport, concluded Kevlin.
