150 cars on track for Imola-Classic at Enzo et Dino Ferrari Circuit

With races putting over 150 cars on the track, the Peter Auto organised programme resulted in a wonderful second edition of the Imola-Classic at the Enzo et Dino Ferrari track.

The grids; two Classic Endurance Racing races, Sixties' Endurance Challenge Formule Storiche and the splendid Trofeo Nastro Rosso, offered the rare chance to admire exceptional Italian racing cars.

The exciting and lively races offered spectators an impressive show; club cars including many Lancia Intgrale models and a display of vintage bicycles, all contributed to making the event enjoyable for all

In Classic Endurance Racing 1 (GT, Touring & Prototypes from 1966 to 1971), Bernard Thuner (Lola T70 MK III), in pole position  found worthy opponents in duo Yvan Mah-Richard Mille (event partner) and their Lola T70 MIII B who held on until the end, crossing the finish line in its wake, way ahead of Stphane Gutzwiller (3rd on Chevron B + 1 lap)

The Classic Endurance Racing 2 (GT, Touring & Prototypes from 1972 to 1979) winner was Michel Quiniou (Lola T 280) with a 120 advance over Yves Scemama (Sauber C5 BMW) and Frederic Da Rocha (Lola T 298 BMW).

Dedicated to Formula Junior & Formula 3 from the end of the 60s to the early 70s, the Challenge Formule Storiche had two races, both won by the same competitor: Louis Maulini on Merlyn MK 10. He imposed himself in front of Manfredo Rossi (Lotus 22) and Vincent Rivet (Brabham BT 28) in the first race then in front of Roland Fischer (Tecno 70) and Bruno Ferrari (Branca FJ) in the second.

Highly appreciated by the tifosi, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso grid (for Italian racing cars from the end of the 50s to the beginning of the 60s) was dominated by the same team during the two races. At the wheel of a magnificent Ferrari 250 GT Drogo (photo), the Hugenholtz-Hart duo triumphed over Olivier de Siebenthal (ISO A3/C) and Lestrade-de Thoisy (Bizzarrini 5300 GT) in the first race. Then, Hugenholtz-Hart beat Lestrade-de Thoisy and Arnold Meier (Ferrari 275 GTB/C) in the second race of the week-end.

Going from their Ferrari 250 GT Drogo to their AC Cobra, the Hart-Hugenholtz crew also dominated the Sixties Endurance two hour race, leaving the Guenat/Mah (AC Cobra) crew a lap behind and outdistancing Jean-Franois Bentz and Francis Trichet (Jaguar Type E) by four laps.
