Javier Ibran competing in Maserati Trofeo USA

First overseas racing weekend for Spaniard driver taking part in the Maserati Trofeo World Series.

Historic Sonoma track is hosting three new races and initiates second-half of season for this difficult international championship.

Javier Ibran participates in a new meeting of the Maserati Trofeo World Series this weekend, and it´s the starting point of the second half of season, to be celebrated in the USA, China and UAE. American event will be held at Sonoma track, previously called Sears Point and owning a long motorsport tradition after being built in 1967. This time the Maserati Trofeo World Series joins IndyCar Series, a key single-seater championship in North-America.

Ibran, improving over the course of the season his performances – he has finished into top-ten several times despite being a debutant and having less experience-, says “I´m so excited about racing in the United States, it´s going to be an incredible experience. For me, as previously with other tracks in the calendar, Sonoma is a completely new track but I know big crowds are expected for this event. Atmosphere will be great and people have incredible motorsport knowledge here. Last but not least to be on track with IndyCar Series is another strong point, I guess plenty of activity at Sonoma track”. His planning for this weekend is quite similar to previous events, “to learn this track as soon as possible. To make your debut at an unknown track is always a handicap, but I´ve watched on-board videos and it looks suitable for my driving style. I´m going to try my best and clinch good results for my sponsors even when it´s a difficult challenge”.

The timetable gets started on Friday, with a free practice session at noon, and then qualifying session taking place at 17.30. Race one and two – both sprint format- will be on Saturday at 10.15 and 13.45, with final race – and consisting of one hour- on Sunday at 16.30. All times are local.
