Retro Podium for Pink Porsche in HSCC 70's RoadSports at Brands

It was a 70's swirly retro painted Pink Porsche which topped the time sheets at Brands Hatch at the weekend in the HSCC 70's Roadsports.

Piloted and owned by Royston born Sarah Bennett-baggs the Adrian Flux sponsored retro Porsche 911 SC was out for the Historic Sports Car Clubs 70's Roadsports series at Brands Hatch, after returning from Spa Francorchamps just a few days before where Sarah clocked up another podium finish as fastest lady driver.

"We had less than a week to turn around the car, but Harvey Engineering do a fantastic job looking after the car for me, and I can always rely and trust in their preparation" Sarah went straight into the 12 minute qualifying session on Saturday morning at Brands with no pre race test, and qualified the Porsche 5th on the grid, 2nd in class.

Just before the race the rain arrived to dampen down the circuit but not quite enough to change full wet tyres. Despite the wet start Sarah made up a place off the standing start straight into fourth place, and held it to the end chasing down the two Lotus Europa's which were storming ahead. The race was won outright by Julian Barter in his TVR3000M, Sarah moved up to third place when the 2nd placed Lotus Europa retired with engine problems.

Sarah commented "The HSCC classic series is great fun, the drivers are very competitive and friendly, I knew a good start was important and of course having the engine over the back wheels helps traction! I think the hours running in the wet at Spa might have helped a bit. But the Michelin Pilot Cup Sports were gripping really well today in the damp conditions and the car was flying. I really enjoyed it, I was so surprised to be third I didn't even realise until I got pulled in at the podium. The reaction from the marshals and public when the car does well is fantastic, It is a stand out colour and people seem to love seeing it do well. Nobody expects a blonde to turn up in a Pink Porsche and actually win something do they? Lets face it!"

Sarah will be back out at the HSCC final meeting of the year at Silverstone on the 19th October.
