The Stuttgart Cup Winter Series Debuts with First of Five HSR Races Later This Month at the Savannah Speed Classic

Split Season 2013/2014 Championship for Caymans and Boxsters Includes HSR Events at Savannah, Daytona, Sebring, Palm Beach and The Mitty at Road Atlanta

Officials from Historic SportsCar Racing (HSR) and The Stuttgart Cup announced today the inaugural 2013/14 Stuttgart Cup Winter Series, a five-race championship for the showcase Porsche Cayman and Boxster series that begins later this month at the HSR Savannah Speed Classic on Hutchinson Island, October 24 – 27.

The Savannah races kicks off a split 2013/2014 Stuttgart Cup Winter Series schedule that includes stops later this year at the legendary Daytona International Speedway and Sebring International Raceway road courses in Florida.

The Winter Series picks up again in February of 2014 with the Palm Beach Grand Prix at Palm Beach International Raceway and concludes with The 26th Annual Mitty at Road Atlanta next April 25 – 27.

A sprint and endurance series, The Stuttgart Cup™ is open to all Porsche Caymans and Boxsters, with rules centered on power to weight ratio. All competing cars must compete with stock make and model engine and transmissions with series approved allowances for exhaust and intake modifications. Stuttgart Cup organizers welcome all competitors with existing race-prepared Caymans or Boxsters to compete with body and engine modifications balanced within the series power to weight ratio parameters.

With rare exception, Caymans and Boxsters will compete in their own classes each race weekend, and sprint and endurance Stuttgart Cup Winter Series Champions will be crowned in each division. Each Stuttgart Cup Winter Series event will feature a full-weekend schedule of sprint races and at least one enduro event. Highlight races include the Bob Snodgrass Memorial Enduro at Daytona, the two-hour feature event of the Daytona Historic Races, November 14 – 17. Night races will also be run at this year's Daytona event.

Another annually anticipated enduro is the four-hour event at the Sebring Historics, December 5 – 8. The 2014 Palm Beach Grand Prix is expected to include the usual mix of sprint and endurance events, possibly including a nighttime sprint that has been part of the calendar in the past.

The Mitty, the closing event of the inaugural Stuttgart Cup Winter Series, has been established as one of the premier historic racing and classic car events in the United States.
