SPORTING BEARS BRING SUPERCARS AND STUNNING BRITISH CLASSICS TO NEC DREAM RIDES GARAGE
The Sporting Bears, the charity fundraising motor club, is bringing the latest supercars as well as a line up of stunning British classics to fill the ‘Dream Rides’ garage at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, held at Birmingham’s NEC from 15-17 November.
A ‘Dream Ride’ is a ten-mile ride as a passenger in one of the amazing cars on offer, all owned by Sporting Bears’ members. In exchange for an agreed charitable donation, you can have your picture taken in your chosen car as well as going on the jaunt that takes you off the NEC site and onto the surrounding roads.
The level of donation you are willing to give determines what type of car you can take a Dream Ride in – and this year’s line up of between 80 and 100 cars has some beauties!
On Saturday and Sunday, visitors can have a ride in what’s believed to be the only Lamborghini Aventador Roadster in the UK. With a price tag well over £275,000, this stunning supercar with its V12 engine is guaranteed to make any petrol head weak at the knees. And if that wasn’t enough, the Lambo is joined by the McLaren MP4 on Sunday!
For those who prefer the more traditional classics, the line up is far from dull with a D-Type Jaguar, a Lotus Elise, an MGT GT VA, a Capri Brooklands 280, a Morgan, an Austin 1300 and a three wheeler Grinnall.
The Sporting Bears give their cars, time and fuel freely so that every penny raised goes to the various children's charities they support. In 2012 they reached the million pound milestone in their fundraising at the show and will, on average, give 1,000 dream rides over the three days raising between £30,000 and £35,000 plus gift aid. For as little as £10, you can have a ride in a great British classic. If you're looking for something 'super', expect to pay £100-£120.
This year, Sporting Bears is raising funds for four UK children's charities this year – Winston's Wish, The Marfan Trust, Scottish Association of Children with Heart Disease (SACHD) and Daisy Chain.
The Dream Rides is one of the most popular features of the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, the UK’s biggest indoor motoring event. Around 250 classic motoring clubs will display over 1,500 cars, showcasing the best of the best of their chosen marque as part of the show’s 30th anniversary celebrations.
Other features include the jam-packed Live Stage hosted by the Discovery Channel’s Wheeler Dealer presenters Mike Brewer and Edd China, a Restoration Theatre with live demonstrations and expert advice, and the two-day Silverstone Auctions classic sale.
