Porsche Carrera GT on offer at BCA

With all the hype surrounding air-cooled Porsche - this fantastic supercar is perhaps overlooked as one of the Porsche greats.

Not their usual auction fodder - surely this exquisitely engineered Carrera GT will generate some interest next week.

PR below:

One of the world’s most powerful supercars is to be offered for sale at BCA Blackbushe on Bank Holiday Monday, 26th May. The 2005 left-hand drive Porsche Carrera GT 5.7 V10 is finished in Basalt Black and has covered less than 7,000 miles from new.

The Carrera GT was produced between 2004 and 2007 with a run of 1,270 cars and been described as the finest sports car the company has ever produced thanks to its stunning performance, fantastic looks and a well-appointed and comfortable cabin. The original on the road cost was around $440,000 (£330,000 in the UK). Examples rarely come up for auction – BCA last sold a Carrera GT in 2012.

The Porsche Carrera GT is effectively a road legal racing car. Every possible weight-saving technique has been employed including a carbon fibre monocoque body, carbon-fibre seats and forged magnesium wheels.

The V10 engine has a Le Mans pedigree having evolved from an original race design by Porsche that was shelved. Generating 612 BHP, it propels the Carrera GT from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds and 0-100 mph in 6.8 seconds, with a top speed of 205 MPH. SGL carbon brakes deliver fantastic stopping power, going from 70 mph to stationary in just 145 feet. The car features a 6-speed manual transmission, carbon fibre rear bonnet and automated rear spoiler which is deployed at 70mph.
