Around 55 cars spread across four different classes (two for specially-built sports-prototypes and two more for production-based GTs) race simultaneously. To be classified, each car must cross the finish line after 24 hours of continuous racing. In recent years each car has featured a team of three drivers. However, before 1970 only two drivers were allowed per car and even solo driving was permitted. 2014 marks the 91st anniversary since Le Mans was held for the first time, and the 82nd edition of the race’s running.
