Round three of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship will take place later this week at the iconic Silverstone Circuit. After a rough start to the season, this could be the break the team is looking for. The first round at Oulton Park, comprising of two races, showed mixed results for both cars; a series of unfortunate incidents caused the #12 car of Jody Firth and Warren Hughes to have two DNF’s. In contrast, the #33 car of Jon Minshaw and Phil Keen showed superb pace and skill to take a tenth place, and a second place finish.Round two in Rockingham saw a continuation of disappointment for the team, albeit with a small taste of the true potential for both cars. The practice sessions for the weekend heralded dominant results for the Trackspeed Porsches, however, the subsequent qualifying did not yield similar results. As such, both cars qualified mid-field; an area where accident risk is dramatically increased.Despite both the Trackspeed Porsches taking extra precautions, others continued to take risks, which unfortunately decided the fate of the race for the team. The #33 car, being driven by Jon Minshaw, was forced to retire with radiator damage, but not before showing great pace and steadily making his way through the field. Likewise, damage caused to the #12 car, driven by Jody Firth, put him five laps down and effectively ended any chance of scoring points. Despite this, both Firth and Hughes continued to race, showing good speed and finishing in 15th position. Ultimately, the pace was there for both cars but luck was not, leaving the true potential of the Porsches unfulfilled.With Silverstone on the horizon, hope has been instilled back into the team. The track is a firm favourite among the drivers, and is the most iconic round of the British GT. Silverstone is known worldwide as the mecca of British track racing; to triumph here is to make history. The 3-hour race also boasts points and a half, which only increases the importance of Trackspeed doing well this weekend. This will be a key opportunity for the team to fight back after the unlucky start to the season.

Team Manager, Keith Cheetham, said "We've had two tests since Rockingham, where we have developed brand new set-ups for the cars. This should help us compete with the upgrades other cars have had this year, so we feel we have a good shot at moving forward at Silverstone. We went well there last year and at some point could do with a little luck. I think this could be it! We will be going for podiums with both cars this weekend, anything short of this will be a disappointment."
