Le Mans winner André Lotterer and his team-mate Enzo Ide won a round in the French GT Championship. In the United States and in Spain, Audi customer teams were successful as well.

Enzo Ide could hardly have given himself a better gift: On the third race weekend of the French GT Championship at Spa-Francorchamps, the Belgian clinched victory on Sunday, in time for his 23rd birthday. He was sharing an Audi R8 LMS ultra of the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT with Le Mans winner André Lotterer. Third place was taken by Henry Hassid and Mike Parisy from the Sébastien Loeb Racing team. Hassid/Parisy, as the runners-up, scored a podium finish on Saturday as well, in front of David Hallyday and Grégory Guilvert from Saintéloc Racing. The weekend was overshadowed by a practice accident of the Frenchman Rémy Deguffroy. The 18-year-old, who suffered a broken foot, several contusions, plus liver and pancreas injuries, is in stable condition.First class victory for Campanico in Spain

Just before the start of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the fans enjoyed a Le Mans moment on the Nordschleife thanks to Audi. Marcel Fässler who won the Le Mans 24 Hours in an Audi R18 e-tron quattro together with André Lotterer and Benoît Tréluyer for the third time last weekend, did a demonstration lap in the Green Hell with the hybrid diesel sports car.A word from Felix Baumgartner

In the Nürburgring 24 Hours, you immediately clinched a result in the top ten together with your team-mates. Compared to your preparation phase, did you go through an extremely intensive learning process this weekend?These two things can’t be compared with each other at all. I drove three stints in the race and completed a total of 24 laps. The learning curve was huge. I learned a lot by watching the driving style of the pros and in the course of time I noticed that I was feeling increasingly sure. Lap by lap, I got a better feel for where I could cut in and where I couldn’t.

Were you relaxed about tackling the race or wasn’t it so easy for you to stay cool?I was quite a bit more nervous than in the previous races because the value of the 24-hour race is higher. There was a lot more at stake. There were various critics who didn’t think I was able to handle this challenge. That had been the same with Red Bull Stratos. But I kept telling myself that with a good team and solid preparation you can achieve almost anything.

When comparing this weekend with your participation in the previous races on the Nordschleife: What was the most difficult part about this 24-hour race?The traffic on track – combined with the different times of day at which I was driving – that was a special challenge. I drove my first stint into the hours of dusk at night and had to look for new reference points, with all the fans and camp fires along the track. In the morning, when the sun rose, it wasn’t easy either, although I’d practiced this situation for many hours on the simulator. But reality does feel different. As a team, we mastered all the tasks. Driving the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring was a boyhood dream of mine. And now I fulfilled it with Audi. Coming up for Audi next week
