Ok - it's a holiday filler news item for the BBC and represents news you have known about for the last 2 years - but here's another opportunity justify to your other half as to why you should hose money on old cars - which if like most of us - you have been wasting on money on cars for years - todays appreciation on old cars is good news.

The recent boom has resulted in the one of the few times in what must be 30 odd car purchases I have made - that I have potentially enjoyed some genuine upside financially on some old clunker I bought at the beginning of the year - lets keep that Porsche RS air-cooled hype going please!!!

For those bitching that their cars are "too valuable" to use now - **** off! - You drive your toys based on the price that you paid for them - not the crazy prices that people are "asking" for them today. Anyway if they are worth a few quid more - it justifies spending a bit more money on them - either on repairs or sensible "upgrades" - magnesium BBS centrelocks with hubs here we come!!!
