International auctioneers Coys welcomed 2015 with outstanding results at their two simultaneous auctions, Autosport in Birmingham and Maastricht in the Netherlands, on Saturday 10th.
The auction at the Autosport International racing car show in Birmingham, UK, featured some high profile celebrity cars including Formula One star Kimi Raikkonen’s 2000 Tatuus Formula Renault, which sold for £10,350. Kimi won seven out of ten events in the Formula Renault UK, winning the Championship in this car in 2000.
The sale also featured a 1967 Volkswagen Splitscreen Camper, previously belonging to ex-American Blues artist Seasick Steve that sold for £29,500.
Other highlights included a 1991 Ferrari Testarossa that was sold for £131,720, a 1989 F3000 Reynard for £35,000, a 1957 Land Rover for £33,630, a 1995 Bentley Azure Continental for £44,360, a 1973 Jensen Interceptor Series 3 for £20,060, a 1987 BMW M5 for £29,500, a 2014 Jaguar C Type for £62,280, a 1933 MG J2 for £35,400 and a 1970 Ford Transit for £11,212.
Chris Routledge, Managing Partner at Coys, said: “It was an exciting day for Coys with two auctions held simultaneously in different countries. This shows the international reach of the company, achieving some outstanding sales at both events.”
He added: “We also auctioned at Autosport seven cars from the hit television show ‘For the love of cars’featuring car fanatic Philip Glenister and internationally renowned car designer Ant Anstead – you’ll see the results later on TV!”
The sale at the Interclassics and Topmobiel show in Maastricht, the Netherlands, was one of a kind with 100 American and European classics. The cars featured were coming from the Stasys Brundza Collection in Lithuania, one of Eastern Europe’s most significant private collections, which was offered for sale at no reserve.
This included one of the largest collections of Cadillacs ever to be put under the hammer, comprised of 35 cars, including a 1934 Cadillac V12 fleetwood Imperial Sedan, which sold for €30,000, a 1905 Cadillac Model C Touring that sold for €38,000, a 1912 Cadillac Torpedo for €46,000, a 1904 Cadillac Model B 4S for €41,000 and a 1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville for €25,000
Other classics sold included a 1968 Mercedes Pullman 600 for €165,000, a 1980 Gaz 113 Chaika for €43,000, a 1956 Gaz 12 for €85,000 and a 1983 Aston Martin Lagonda Tickford for €76,000.
