The star of the sale - Lot 128 the Ex-Scuderia Filipinetti - 1966 FERRARI 275GTB COMPETIZIONE - hammer = US$ 9,405,000 - £6,162,893 - looked OK value for a car with really good period history compared to some of the ludicrous prices achieved at Pebble Beach last year for a similar car with no period history. Still at this money would rather have a customer's NART alloy 4 cam - not a decision I am in a position to make...!
Please note figures below are from Bonhams site - with hammer prices - lots not sold not included
Non sales included some lumpy stuff such as Daytona Spyder, 911 RSH, 911 RST, 250 Lusso, 275 GTB Alloy etc
Cars were generally on low side of estimates - the $380k/£250k achieved for an award winning 246 Dino against an estimate of $450-$500k sums it up really. Bit below estimate and if you were going to pick holes in the car - a year after the car was delivered the engine/box were changed by the factory - which will upset some of the "collectors" who will never drive the ****ing car anyway...Even so prices on the soft side and some of the big ticket stuff did not sell.
On the upside for buyers - there was some stuff at the more modest end of the market which probably does not give investors a hard-on - which sold below the cost of restoration at a big ticket restoration workshop.
