Allen Set For Pirelli World Challenge Debut This Weekend

John Allen and SGV Motorsports/Bilt Racing Service Set For Pirelli World Challenge Debut This Weekend Allen and SGV/BRS Begin Four-Race 2015 Campaign in the MOMO Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park Presented by PorscheBIRMINGHAM, Alabama (April 23, 2015) – Former Alabama resident John Allen will make his Pirelli World Challenge debut at the wheel of the GTS-class No. 16 SGV Motorsports/Bilt Racing Service Porsche Cayman S in this weekend’s MOMO Grand Prix at Barber Motorsports Park presented by Porsche, April 24 – 26.The MOMO Grand Prix marks not only Allen’s Pirelli World Challenge debut but also the first race in the series for both SGV Motorsports and Bilt Racing Service (BRS), which engineers, manages and built the GTS-class No. 16 Cayman S. The team’s 2015 racing plans also include the upcoming Pirelli World Challenge races at Road America, Miller Motorsports Park and Sonoma.“My approach to building a successful race team is much the same as building my engineering company,” Allen said. “Surround myself with people that are smarter than me, get out of their way, and let them do what they are good at. BRS has extensive experience with the Caymans and has engineered and assembled an amazing car which we successfully tested and shook down earlier this year in Porsche Club of America races at Sebring and Road Atlanta and, more recently, in a test here at Barber.”Pawel Bulka runs the technical and competition operations in his role as BRS Team Manager. He and the BRS crew know every inch of the No. 16 Cayman S, which is unique among this weekend’s competing cars in that it is fitted with a PDK “dual-clutch” transmission.“We are very excited to be competing in Pirelli World Challenge and returning to professional racing with a Porsche Cayman,” Bulka said. “We are anticipating a successful season, regarding driver and vehicle development. So far in testing the results look very promising. In addition, we are enthusiastic about running a Porsche PDK transmission in professional competition.”Allen is coached by professional driver Jon Berry who will guide him through every twist and turn of the tricky 2.38-mile, 17-turn Barber Motorsports Park permanent road course. “I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with John since the early days of his driver development,” Berry said. “As racing drivers, we have a tendency to let our egos get in the way of our development, and that has never been the case with John. He is always interested in learning more.” Developing and learning his race craft is a positive part of the experience for Allen.“I still have a lot to learn about racing and enjoy learning something new every day,” Allen said. “I hope to see a lot of 'Bama' fans out at the track in Birmingham. If you look closely, you might also see 'Big Al' and 'Roll Tide' on the car. Auburn fans are encouraged to join us in the paddock area too.”A tightly scheduled two-day event for the GTS division, qualifying is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, April 24, from 1:40 – 2:15 p.m. CDT, and will be followed by the weekend’s first race that afternoon at 4:50 p.m. CDT.All Pirelli World Challenge races on the MOMO Grand Prix schedule are 50 minutes in length. Friday’s opening sprint will be followed by the second and final GTS race of the weekend on Saturday, April 25, at 1:25 p.m. CDT.Live Internet Telecasts of all races are available on www.World-ChallengeTV.com.
