Historic BMW M5 Collection up for auction

Historic BMW M5 Collection up for auction

An exciting BMW collection featuring seven M5s from almost every era is set to go under the hammer at Classic Car Auctions’ (CCA) June Sale, taking place at its new venue the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre, on Saturday June 6th.

With the iconic super saloon series celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the opportunity to purchase some fine examples of the model could not have come at a more exciting time.

From the earliest model in the series, the E28, to the 25th anniversary edition, the collection is sure to delight all discerning BMW enthusiasts. After having always had a keen interest in the BMW marque, the current vendor started the collection around four years ago, purchasing classics that he could enjoy and use on a daily basis, as well as could provide great potential for future investment.

Highlights from the collection include a 2010 BMW E60 M5. Ultra rare, this model is number seven of just 25 manufactured, has covered a mere 29,000 miles, and is estimated at between £25,000 and £28,000. Presented in Frozen Silver Metallic with contrasting black leather interior and off set with a beautiful piano black wood trim, it is a stylish modern classic that is sure to turn heads.

A 1987 BMW E28 M5 saloon will also go under the hammer; the earliest model of the series and one of the rarest of the modern-generation BMWs, it is the ultimate road smoker. Showing 176,000 miles, this landmark classic has been well cared for and is supplied with a fresh UK MoT certificate. Featured in EVO magazine in 2013 and described by the writer as an "iconic slice of history", it is to be offered in the June Sale with no reserve.

Following a body restoration at the cost of £5,000 in August 2014, a 1991 BMW E34 M5 3.6 Saloon is also offered with no reserve. Presented in Macao Blue metallic with contrasting grey leather interior, the original UK supplied right hand drive M5 3.6 is supplied with a fresh UK MoT certificate.

A low mileage 2000 BMW E39 M5 saloon that is finished in Imola red with contrasting black leather interior will also be offered with no reserve. Having been recently restored, the landmark German car is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner.

Guy Lees-Milne, general manager of CCA, said: “It is fantastic to have been recognised by the vendor as an auction house of quality and expertise for exciting mid-market classic cars and entrusted with selling his pride and joy. With rising interest in M BMWs, we look forward to offering the collection in our June Sale.”

Those wishing to attend the sale and purchase cars from this special collection can do so now by filling in CCA’s online form. Those unable to attend in person can also bid online, over the phone or by placing a commission bid prior to the sale.
