Supercar Driver to Marshall up with V8 Utes in Townsville‏

Former V8 Supercar driver Marcus Marshall will continue his return to motorsport when he takes the wheel of the #41 Team Kleen Holden at Round 4 of the 2015 East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series at the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400, 10- 12th July.Marshall will join Team Kleen Racing, alongside fellow Tasmanian Adam Beechey and team owner Andrew Nickolls and will sport a new livery thanks to Cairns Industries and the Mission Beach Tavern.The former Champ Car and V8 Supercar driver last competed in V8 Utes in 2011 at Barbagallo Raceway in the Auto One Wildcard Ute, where he placed in the top ten for the weekend and is looking forward to another stint.“The Utes have changed quite a bit since I last drove them and that was in a Ford. I’m really appreciative of the opportunity and look forward to helping this great little team move forward,” said Marcus.The last time Marshall drove was in this year’s Bathurst 12hour event, where he won his class in a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. Marshall’s vast driving experience includes; Formula Ford, Porsche Carrera Cup, British Formula 3, Champ Car for Derrick Walker’s Team Australia in 2005, 2006 A1 Grand Prix for Team Australia, V8 Supercars with Paul Cruickshank, Matthew White Motorsport Jack Daniels Racing and Britek Motorsport, before setting up his own Gold Coast based team, IntaRacing in 2009. He also competed in the 2010 Bathurst 1000 with Dick Johnson Racing, and in the 2011 Phillip Island and Bathurst 1000 endurance races with Garry Rogers.Marshall won’t have a chance to test the Team Kleen Holden prior to hitting the track; however he drove at the Townsville circuit in the GRM V8 Supercar in 2011.He is the third driver to make a return in a V8 Ute at the Townsville event, last year V8 Supercar driver Tim Blanchard made a one-off appearance at the event, his first time back racing for six months.Grant Johnson will also return to the field this round in the All Purpose Pest Control Ford.
