Pirelli MINI racers make their point

Lawrence Davey and David Grady scored valuable championship points in the Pirelli-supplied Power Maxed MINI Challenge MINI Festival races at Brands Hatch last weekend.

Grady, who was lying second in the standings to the absent Charlie Butler-Henderson coming to the Kent circuit, took his maiden win of the season in race three as well as two fifth-place finishes to boost his title hopes. The other two outright victories in the lead Gen 3 F56 class on the 1.2-mile Indy Circuit went to Davey, who prior to Brands had been lying fifth in the standings.

In the JCW class, which shared the grid with the F56 machines, Jono Brown took a win ahead of championship leader Neil Newstead, who then finished ahead of nearest rival Hamish Brandon in race two before coming second to him in the final encounter.

In the standalone Cooper class races, Nathan Harrison scored two wins to one for close title rival Ricky Page. Both also collected a second-place finish while Mark Wakefield, third in the points prior to Brands, managed a third-place finish in race two.

The next round of the Power Maxed MINI Challenge, for which Pirelli is the exclusive tyre supplier, takes place at Oulton Park on August 8.
