Harris penalty pending pre Townsville V8 Ute Round

ARMOR ALL Drivers Championship leader Ryal Harris will attend a stewards hearing the day before he hits the track for Round 4 of the 2015 East Coast Bullbars Australian V8 Ute Racing Series at the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400 (10-12th July).Harris was given a $500 suspended fine for an overtaking manoeuvre, resulting in loss of traction and contact with Adam Marjoram at Turn 14 in the final race of Round 3 in Darwin a few weekends ago.Harris was then handed an infringement notice for another overtaking manoeuvre on David Sieders, at Turn 4 in the same race, the Gold Coaster is protesting the penalty which will be heard on Thursday, 9th July.If Harris is penalised, he will be forced to pay the $500 before commencing racing and then could be hit with a 27 second penalty (worth 40 points), which would drop him back to 25th position for Race 3 and bring teammate George Miedecke within 13 points of the Championship Lead.“Either way if I do get a penalty, I’ll still be leading the championship but I’d rather be leading by a lot more. I didn’t think that the penalty fitted the accusation so that is why we are going to the hearing, so we’ll go to the hearing present our evidence and see what happens I guess,” explained Harris.Although Miedecke would welcome the smaller gap, he would prefer to earn it on the track.“I’d prefer to beat him on the track but rules are rules, if it happens it has nothing to do with me I’m just trying to get good results. I won the first ever race at Townsville and I’m hoping to repeat that and at the end of day, let my driving do the talking. If it works out in my favour then that’s great and if not, then I’ll just beat him (Harris) on track,” said Miedecke. Also out of the Darwin weekend, Bruce Oaklands was served a $1000 suspended fine until the end of the year for contact with Rookie Leigh Nicolaou at Turn 1 in Race 3.A investigation will also take place for alleged contact on lap 1 between Cam Wilson and Craig Dontas in Race 3.See below full V8 Ute Schedule for the Castrol EDGE Townsville 400.Friday, 10th July      Practice 1    9:40amFriday, 10th July      Practice 2    12:10pmFriday, 10th July      Qualifying    8:05amSaturday, 11th July  Race 1        1:45pmSunday, 12th July    Race 2        8:00amSunday, 12th July    Race 3        11:10am
