MRS travels to Zandvoort for GT Championship ADAC GT Masters

MRS plans to extend lead in Gentlemen-Standings Thrilling end to the championship season

This coming weekend will see the second-to-last championship round of the ADAC GT Masters, held at the Dutch circuit of Zandvoort. Molitor Racing Systems takes part on the 4.3-km-long track with both Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3 driven by Jöst/Scholze and Strauß/Gassner.

The team with its headquarter near Ulm grabbed the lead in the Gentlemen rankings at Sachsenring three weeks ago, but the declared goal was to drive further up within the Top-10 places. “We did not have the performance as hoped at the last race meeting”, said Karsten Molitor, Team Principal MRS. “We have looked at the data and know now, where we lost time and worked on that. We are confident to have a good weekend at Zandvoort, to extend our lead in the Gentlemen-Class and to compete higher up in the field.”

The Circuit Park Zandvoort celebrated its 65th anniversary in 2013 and can look back on a long tradition. The first Formula One race was held in 1948, with the track layout only changing in 1988 due to some new Bungalow parks being built. It is an interesting track for the Nissan drivers, especially for Florian Strauß and Marc Gassner, both winners of the GT Academy Germany. “Marc and I have never been to Zandvoort before and we are looking forward to the challenge, because some of the greatest racing drivers have driven on that track in the past”, said Strauß, who won the Academy in 2013.

“We have watched the races from last year and drove virtually on the track. The layout is really interesting and we hope to achieve a good result with our Nissan GT-R. The season did not go as planned so far, but as a team we will give our best to have a good race weekend.”

The weekend will start on Friday with Free Practice at 08:30. Both races will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 1:15pm respectively, with the Live-TV on Sport 1 from 1pm.
