MRS shows great performance at 12-hours of Brno

MRS narrowly misses Class-Podium in Brno View ahead to the Season Final of the Porsche Carrera Cups in Hockenheim

Molitor Racing Systems experienced the one or another rollercoaster ride in the 24H Series powered by Hankook this year. So they did at the 12-hours of Brno as well. After Pole Position in Class and a strong drive in the Top-10, the team based near Ulm narrowly missed out on a podium finish.

MRS brought in Christian Engelhart, the regular driver as well as routinier from the Porsche

Supercup and the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. The 28-year-old secured the Pole-Position in the 997-Class on his first attempt, racing the MRS GT Racing-Porsche 991 Cup (#20, Charles Putman/Charles Espenlaub).

“Of course, that was a great way to start as we were almost 0.5 seconds fasters then the second-placed Porsche and 13th in the overall results, we knew we could look ahead to a good race”, said Engelhart. “A tenth place during Night Practice underlined once more the good performance of our car.”

Engehart was also the first driver and started the 12-hours-race around the 5.4-km-long track at midday. The MRS-Porsche was consistently running in the Top-10 overall at the start of the race, also heading for a class podium. However, a break problem forced the crew for an additional pit stop. Despite a hard-fought drive to get back up the field, the team narrowly missed out on a podium with P4.

“One more, our drivers and mechanics got everything out of our car and we can still be proud of our achievements”, said Karsten Molitor, Team Principal MRS. “It is no consolation to think of where we could have ended up, but we still had a good weekend.”

MRS and Christian Engelhart are now heading to Hockenheim, where the Season Final of the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany is taking place this weekend. Engelhart, who is the undisputed “King of Hockenheim”, is not going to let go of the Runner-up title.

„Hockenheim has always been a good track for us and looking at the predicted weather forecast of rain, it is even better“, says Engelhart. “It has been a great season with MRS and we will crown it with a successful season.”
