Hexagon Modern Classics last night played host to the inaugural – and extremely successful – Total 911 Awards, complete with eleven gongs and a fascinating Q+A with 2015 Le Mans winner, Nick Tandy. Tandy himself took home two awards, matching independent specialists, Autofarm, while Hexagon Modern Classics received the Editor’s Choice award.

Hundreds of the industry’s best and brightest Porsche specialists gathered at Hexagon Modern Classics’ HQ in north London, with a host of rare and exotic Porsches on display – many of which came from Hexagon’s own stock.

Visitors had the opportunity to admire Hexagon’s expertly prepared rarities such as a Porsche 993 RS ‘Clubsport’, 9M 993 Speedster and a 993 Turbo S. A Porsche 901 Cabriolet prototype was also on display – a unique car provided by Porsche Cars GB.

Broadcaster Henry Hope-Frost was host for the evening, kicking things off with a fascinating Q+A with 2015 Le Mans winner, Nick Tandy. Reflecting on his time racing with Porsche, Tandy said: “The proudest moment of my career was when I was offered a factory contract by Porsche.” And speaking of his win at Le Mans, when Tandy was asked how quick his teammate Nico Hulkenberg was, he diplomatically replied: “Well, we won the race, didn’t we?”

Then it was time for the awards announcements, with 10 awards plus an additional Editor’s Choice award – this year going to Hexagon Modern Classics. The awards winners in full are:

Lee Sibley, editor of Total 911 magazine, said: “With the help and hosting of Hexagon Modern Classics, our inaugural Total 911 Awards were an astounding success. Our list of eleven winners – Hexagon among them – really rewards excellence in the Porsche community so it’s brilliant that we can recognize all their hard work in this way. We’re already excited about our 2016 Awards, in the hopes it can be the event the Porsche industry looks forward to each and every year.”

Paul Michaels, chairman of Hexagon Modern Classics, said: “We couldn’t be happier with Total 911’s first ever Awards, and we’re thrilled to have picked up the Editor’s Choice award. We love the Porsche 911 – as was evident from some of the mouth-watering stock we had on show – so to be the host of an evening devoted to recognizing excellence in this particular field is an absolute privilege for us and we look forward to welcoming back many of the guests who joined us last night.”
