Sports car racing greats Derek Bell and Brian Redman are the latest legends confirmed for competition in the Historic Sportscar Racing (HSR) Classic 24 Hour at Daytona presented by IMSA, November 12 – 15, at Daytona International Speedway. Bell, a three-time Rolex 24 At Daytona winner and five-time winner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be reunited with one of the iconic No. 14 Lowenbrau/Al Holbert Racing Porsche 962s. In its active career, Bell co-drove the Lowbenbrau 962 he will race at the Classic 24 Hour at Daytona with Holbert to four victories, with Chip Robinson joining the duo for one of the wins."I'm thrilled to be united with our very special car at such a memorable circuit,” Bell said. “So many emotional moments come to mind when one considers what Al Holbert and team did for all of us and the sport during those wonderful years. So many thanks to Dan Curry, the owner of the car!”Another three-time Rolex 24 At Daytona winner, Redman will return to the wheel of the same 1972 BMW CSL he raced in last year’s inaugural Classic 24 Hour at Daytona as well as the memorable Aston Martin AMR-1 Group C race car that he drove in its active career. Redman will share the No. 51 BMW – one of six CSLs from that era entered in the race – with car owner Scott Hughes. Redman scored his second of three Rolex 24 At Daytona victories in 1976 at the wheel of a similar CSL, driving for 14 hours after co-driver Peter Gregg took ill early in the race. John Fitzpatrick then stepped in to co-drive with Redman after his own BMW retired early. Redman raced the Aston Martin in the 1989 World Sportscar Championship and scored a popular fourth-place finish in the AMR-1 in its home race at Brands Hatch, co-driving with the late David Leslie. - Many of the legendary drivers and other motorsports figures attending or racing in the Classic 24 Hour at Daytona gather together at the Shores Resort and Spa in Daytona Beach on the Friday night of the event weekend where Jochen Mass and friends will host a fundraising dinner and celebration. The event is a benefit for Racing for Kids, the official charity of the Classic 24 Hour at Daytona for the second-consecutive year. The Friday, November 13 night of racing tales and revelry begins with a cocktail reception at 7 p.m., dinner at 8 p.m. and includes a VIP and featured driver Q&A and surely other moments to treasure. The Museum is bringing a Greenwood-equipped Corvette race car from its collection, a 1972 chassis with an accomplished on-track record, to be on display at the Classic 24 Hour at the Greenwood tribute. In addition to discount pricing on a full-weekend ticket to the Classic 24 Hour at Daytona, the special promotion includes a Thursday, November 12, schedule of tributes and celebration of Greenwood and his Corvettes. Plans call for a panel discussion centering on Greenwood and his career at 11 a.m., which is scheduled to be followed by a display of the groundbreaking Greenwood C3 Corvettes from Noon to 3 p.m. The day will close with a reception at 4 p.m. that includes awards and prizes. Race fans will also have at least a pair of Greenwood Corvettes to follow all weekend in the Classic 24 Hour as the French-based Caldentey Engineering team is returning to Daytona after participating in last year’s inaugural event. Drivers Didier André, French Porsche Carrera Cup standout Jules Gounon and his father, former Formula 1 driver Jean Marc Gounon, are entered in 1976 and 1979 Greenwood Corvettes. The team was among the most popular at Daytona with its Greenwood Corvettes last year at the Classic 24.

- Classic 24 Hour at Daytona attendees can also get up close and personal with the growing list of VIPS and legendary drivers attending the race right at Daytona International Speedway. A Saturday morning autograph session featuring the “Who’s Who” of that weekend’s race will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday November 14, in Daytona’s infield Sprint FANZONE area.- Another event open to all is the Official Classic 24 Hour at Daytona presented by IMSA Welcome Party at the Bank & Blues Club in Daytona Beach Wednesday night, November 11, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. The pre-race get together will include light hors d'oeuvres and a live band made possible by longtime HSR competitor Dean DeSantis. Bank & Blues is located at 701 Main Street in Daytona Beach.- The list of attending Classic 24 Hour at Daytona luminaries will also include the “First Lady of Racing” Linda Vaughn. The timeless race queen is as legendary as any of the drivers coming to this year’s Classic 24 Hour, and she is as known in sports car racing circles as much as she is in Drag Racing, Stock Car racing and IndyCar racing. Vaughn, a living icon to this day as Miss Hurst Golden Shifter, a title she still holds, will be in attendance at the Classic 24 Hour throughout the event and will participate in all VIP activities, including the Friday night dinner at The Shores.- Among the notable entries in the Classic 24 Hour is the 1971 Chevron B19 that will be driven by car owner Martin Lauber and co-driver Mark Colbert. Now the Chevron’s original driver, Charlie Kemp, will be attending the Classic 24 Hour as well where he will be reunited with the B19 that has been reportedly restored to its original Marathon Special livery. In addition to the Chevron, Kemp was best known as a top Shelby GT350 driver on the SCCA circuit and as a winner in Can-Am competition. He joined teammate George Follmer on the powerhouse RC Cola/Rinzler Motoracing Porsche 917/10 Can-Am team, winning at Mosport in 1973.
