Pirelli MSA Welsh Rally Championship

Round 3: Rally North Wales, 2 April

Luke Francis and John H Roberts, winners in 2015, returned to Dolgellau to take back-to-back wins on Rally North Wales claiming maximum championship points in the process.

Francis led from start to finish setting fastest times on all five stages in the Dyfi complex.

Stephen Simpson matched Francis time on the opening test but driveshaft failure on his Fiesta S2000 meant retirement. Dylan Davies, engine fire and Paul Davy, manifold, also retiring thier Subarus after the first test.

This left an interesting battle between local Ieuan Rowlands, Ford Escort 2.7 and Lampeter's Andy Davies, Grp N Subaru. Rowlands arrived back at Dolgellau 4 seconds ahead of Davies, the pair setting equal times twice during the day.
