ZAKSPEED celebrates Nissan GT-R debut at Nurburgring Qualification race

ZAKSPEED premieres with new Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3GT Academy winners Strauss and Gassner to compete in Qualification raceQualification for the highlight race of the year

Team ZAKSPEED could not have chosen a better race to premiere with the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3. The qualification race for the ADAC Zurich 24h-Race at the Nürburgring this coming weekend is the perfect start for the new cooperation. The two German GT Academy winners, Florian Strauss and Marc Gassner, form a competitive driver-pairing for this race.

The qualification race for the prestigious race at the Nürburgring takes place from 16th until 17th April for the third consecutive time. For Team ZAKSPEED, who will start for the very first time with the Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3, the race will mark the first milestone with the brand-new car.

Following the promising tests at the Nordschleife last Monday, ZAKSPEED is fully motivated for the first race. The #19 racing car is supported by Nissan Deutschland and starts in the highly competitive SP9 category. Florian Strauss and Marc Gassner will share the wheel of the Nissan.

“I am very pleased to have the opportunity to drive for Nissan and Team ZAKSPEED at the coming weekend”, says Florian Strauss, who won the GT Academy in 2013. “The Nordschleife a great challenge every time and I am very much looking forward to race there, because it has become my absolute favourite circuit.”

For Strauss´ team-mate it is not just a race but a dream come true. “This is great news to race with Nissan and ZAKSPEED at the Nordschleife”, says Gassner, the winner of 2014. “I am positive that we will be competitive, since the car feels great, is fast and ZAKSPEED is a highly successful and professional team. I am also looking forward to driving with Florian again. We already worked well as a team last year and it will be fun again.”

Peter Zakowski, Team Principal Team ZAKSPEED, welcomes the premiere at the coming weekend. “The qualification race is a very tough race, which has found recognition on an international level. The race will be a milestone for us, but also a roll-out at the same time. There is still a lot of work to do, but I am confident we will have a great package in time for the 24h-race.”
