Eighth race of the Formula E series in Berlin:Daniel Abt finishes second and Lucas di Grassi takes third place in the Formula E race in the German capitalLucas di Grassi remains the leader in the driver standings

Berlin is always worth a visit, especially for Daniel Abt, who finished second in the Formula E race in the heart of Berlin with the Abt Schaeffler team from Germany. This second-place finish was Abt's best result to date in the electric racing series. Abt's teammate, Lucas di Grassi, sealed the successful outing for the German team by taking third place. Di Grassi, the Brazilian driver in the Abt Schaeffler team backed by its strategic partner, Volkswagen, will now travel to London for the final two races on 2 and 3 July as the leader in the driver standings.

Daniel Abt began the race in the third grid position. He then overtook another car and easily held onto second place until the end of the race, thanks in part to a perfectly timed pit stop to change cars. Lucas di Grassi started the race from eighth on the grid and then caught up extensively by overtaking five vehicles. After a perfect pit stop, he crossed the finish line near Alexander platz in Berlin in third place.

The last two races of the 2015-2016 Formula E season will take place in London on 2 and 3 July. Lucas di Grassi will start the first race as the front runner with a one-point lead on Sébastien Buemi. Abt Schaeffler, the sole German team in the field, is currently second in the team standings.

The Volkswagen brand has been participating for one and a half years as a strategic partner of the Abt Schaeffler team in the Formula E series, which is held on street circuits worldwide. The Volkswagen brand has one of the largest product ranges with electric-powered drives and continues to accelerate the development of fully electric and hybrid electric vehicles.
