Yokohama heading back to Isle of Man TT

aiming to go one better

The Japanese manufacturer of high performance, off-road and motorsport tyres, Yokohama, will be returning to the Isle of Man next week, as it partners with the father and son pairing of Ian and Carl Bell as they compete in the TT races in the Sidecar category.Yokohama has a rich heritage at the TT in the sidecar class, having achieved numerous wins, fastest laps and held the lap record for eight consecutive years until last year.In 2015, Ian and Carl narrowly missed out on a pair of podium finishes in the two sidecar races that form the TT competition, claiming a fourth and fifth place finish during TT week. This year, they already have plenty of success under their belts, using Yokohama's latest radial sidecar tyre. A string of podium results means they are currently second overall on the British F2 Sidecar championship after two rounds, so they will be heading for the island with renewed confidence. They travel to the island this weekend to begin practice on Monday 30 May, ahead of their first race, which is scheduled for 14:00hrs on Saturday 4 June. Their second race is scheduled for the final day of competition, Friday 10 June at 10:45, just before the finale of race week, the Senior TT.Commenting, Head of Motorsport at YHPT Ltd, Mark Evans, said; "I am very excited to see what Ian and Carl are able to do at this year's Isle of Man TT. They put in a really solid performance last year and have been doing very well in the F2 championship this year, so I am sure that they can go one better this year."I'm also very glad to see that our radial sidecar tyre is clearly performing well, as shown by the results they have achieved so far in the British F2 Championship and I'm keen to see that applied in the Island."
