MSA British Superkart Championship

Rounds 8-10: Donington Park, 17 July

Jack Layton increased his lead in the championship after three closely fought races at Donington Park.

Layton led from the start of the opening race and kept his rival Gavin Bennett at bay until lap 12, when Bennett pushed ahead. Layton snatched back the lead on the next lap and held it to the flag to win by 1.175 seconds after catching a slower kart at the last corner.

Bennett fitted new tyres for the next race and romped away to an easy win, while Layton had to battle with Toby Davis. The championship leader gained the upper hand with two laps to go.

In the final encounter Bennett led at the end of lap one before Layton took over at half distance. The lead swapped on several occasions during the next few laps but it was Layton who exited the final corner just ahead. In the race to the line Bennett drew alongside but victory was Layton’s by 0.061 seconds.
