Honda Racing head to Donington for first BSB Showdown round

This weekend the Honda Racing team and its trio of riders head to Donington Park for round ten of the MCE British Superbike Championship – the first of three Showdown rounds where the top-six riders in the standings will battle for the championship title.

Jason O’Halloran will be going into this weekend looking to return to the podium after narrowly missing out on two occasions at Oulton Park. The O’Show will be eager to get the best starts possible aboard his Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade and aim for his second win of the season.

Last time out at Oulton Park, Dan Linfoot confirmed his place in the Showdown with a trip to the podium, after finishing third in race two. Determined to make up for the lost points in race three, Linfoot will be aiming for that elusive race victory.

After a positive outing at her home circuit, Jenny Tinmouth will be looking to continue her good form on the CBR this weekend at the Leicestershire circuit. The first lady of BSB will also be looking to continue racking up more personal bests and strong finishes in both races.

The 4.003km circuit, situated just metres from the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border, held it’s first motorcycle race in 1931 and was the first permanent park circuit in England. One of the most popular places to watch for fans, the Craner Curves always provides breathtakingly close battles on the first lap.

It’s nice to now have my place in the Showdown confirmed and that boxed off, it happened later than I’d wanted, and it wasn’t the easiest with the crash in the final race at Oulton Park, but Honda has two riders in there and it’s the first job ticked off. Now, we have to focus our efforts to the next three rounds and I need to be pushing for podiums in all races, and get my first race win! It’s important to now be consistent and make no mistakes; any mistake will damage podium credits. We have three excellent circuits ahead of us - Donington was strong for me last year and I hope to be back up on that podium again! I’m looking forward to the Showdown rounds, it’s all to play for now and I think we’re going to see some good battles on track.Dan Linfoot

I’m so happy to be racing again for a second weekend in a row, if I could I’d race every weekend! I’m coming into Donington Park confident after two good rounds at Cadwell and also last weekend at Oulton, we’ve enjoyed five strong race finishes and the Fireblade is just a brilliant bike to ride. My side of the team has been working so hard to get everything together for me and I’m feeling really confident with the package we now have. I’m looking for two more solid race finishes this weekend and also smashing some more of my personal bests, I have been working hard on my training and it’s just nice to see all the hard work from all sides coming together.Jenny Tinmouth

I’m really looking forward to heading to Donington Park this weekend, we had a good test there at the start of the season and I think we have come along way since then. I feel we can be competitive and up there challenging at the front, like we have done at the previous rounds. I was disappointed not to get the win in race three at Oulton Park, but we showed we are capable as a package with the team and able to have the potential to still win races and challenge for the championship. I’ll be giving it everything I’ve got at Donington - we’re in the Showdown and ready to fight!Jason O'Halloran

It is Donington Park this weekend and the first of the three-Showdown rounds and I am pleased to have Jason and now Dan confirmed in there. Dan certainly knows how to make it hard for himself, but nevertheless, they’re both secure and have a chance for the top spot. Donington will be a different race for the riders in the top-six – the advantage Shakey and Haslam hold over the rest of the ‘Title Fighters’ is high with points, and I think we’re going to see a totally different race because of this. With the Showdown rounds upon us and Haslam on a roll, Shakey will be keen to put and end to that and our guys need to be up there challenging them and beating on track. With Jenny, she’s on a roll at the moment with five race starts and five finishes – she’s making progress and I hope to continue this over the next few rounds.Havier Beltran - Honda Racing team manager
