Double Silverstone Ginetta Junior podium for Harry King

Rookie racer Harry King enjoyed another fine weekend on track as the Simpson Race Products Ginetta Junior Championship headed to Silverstone for the penultimate meeting of the year. The 15-year-old from Holyport went into the weekend buoyed by an impressive victory in the previous meeting at Rockingham and with confidence high of another strong performance at the wheel of his Elite Motorsport-run car.Having run at the front of the pack during pre-event testing around the short Silverstone National Circuit, Harry qualified eleventh on the grid after a session that saw drivers forced to contend with damp conditions and an ever-drying circuit. With work to do in race one, Harry produced a strong performance to come through the field to sixth place by the finish; taking his place on the podium as second best of the rookie drivers.Race two saw Harry running right at the sharp end of the pack as he worked his way through to the lead of the race by the third lap. The rookie would then be embroiled in a battle for victory that would run right to the flag, with positions being swapped right up to the moment that Harry crossed the line in third place overall and second best of the rookies. It was a podium finish he would repeat in race three with another impressive drive to third spot; the highlight coming with a stunning move into Brooklands that saw him make up two places in one go as he looked to bounce back from losing ground on lap one.The result also saw Harry top the rookie class as he strengthened his position inside the top eight of the championship standings. In fact, Harry has now scored more points in the last two meetings than anyone else in the series bar newly-crowned champion Will Tregurtha.“It’s been another great weekend and I’m really pleased with how it’s gone,” Harry said. “Morale was high after Rockingham and from the moment we hit the track here in testing, we were right on the pace. It was unfortunate that the mixed conditions on track in qualifying worked against us, but we came back well in the races to pick up three strong results.“The car has been faultless all weekend and the team has done a fantastic job with it once again. I felt able to push hard and race my way forwards, so two overall podiums and three strong rookie results is brilliant for both me, and the team as a whole.“It also means another great weekend in terms of points and I can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch for the season finale.”
