Preview day provides free testing opportunity for Silverstone Classic competitors

Annual curtain-raiser set for Thursday 23 MarchPre-season testing available on full Silverstone Grand Prix CircuitCompetitors gearing up for another record-breaking Silverstone Classic (28-30 July) are being offered the welcome opportunity to test their cars in advance… and for free!Staged at the ‘Home of British Motor Sport’, the Silverstone Classic is the world’s biggest classic motor racing festival, attracting more than 1,000 race entries. The packed programme features the full spectrum of historic motor sport, and this summer’s added highlights will include a special celebration to mark 50 years of Formula Ford plus a star-studded celebrity race. All those competing in July’s extravaganza are being given the chance to fine-tune their cars and/or familiarise themselves with the full Silverstone Grand Prix Circuit during the Classic’s official annual Media Preview on Thursday 23 March. The day will include morning and afternoon test sessions segregated into classes either side of a series of photo opportunities, media and VIP passenger rides plus other publicity-generating activities on-track in the middle of the day.“We introduced free testing at the Media Preview as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations in 2015, as we wanted to give something back to all those competitors who play such an important role in making the Classic the huge success it is today,” explained Nick Wigley, CEO of event organiser Goose Live Events. “The offer proved so popular that we repeated it last year and we are doing so again in 2017.”Understandably, the chance for free testing at Silverstone has proved highly popular and event organisers are once again expecting the limited number of available places to be snapped up swiftly.Entries will be accepted on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and application forms are available via the official event website at www.silverstoneclassic.com/competitor-zone.Media accreditation is now open for both the pre-event Preview at Silverstone on Thursday 23 March and the event itself in July. Those wishing to attend either – or both – are invited to send their applications to SC2017accreditation@mpacreative.com. Applicants should supply either proof of coverage from past Classics or evidence of 2017 commissions. For the public, Early Bird tickets for the 2017 Silverstone Classic are available offering significant savings. Adult prices start at just £35 and stick to the Classic’s widely praised ‘access all areas’ policy, providing admission to both race paddocks, trackside grandstands and the live music concerts.Full details of all tickets (which must be purchased in advance) – as well as hospitality packages and weekend festival camping – can be found on the official www.silverstoneclassic.com website.
