Introduced at the 1954 New York Auto Show, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL was envisioned as a complementary sports car to the company’s new 300 SL Gullwing. Offering exceptional build quality, sporting performance, and an attractive two-seat roadster design, the 190 SL was immensely popular, particularly in the North American market.

The outstanding 190 SL offered here was originally sold in the US, where it reportedly spent most of its existence in the dry climate of California. In 2005, Sig. Liberatore, a collector based in Milan, acquired this 190 SL and imported it to Europe. He then commissioned a high-quality restoration by an Italian firm that is responsible for the car’s exceptional condition. The current owner, a noted East Coast collector, acquired the car in England in 2015 and reports that it is the finest restored 190 SL he has seen.

Today, the car is finished in an elegant color combination of Glacier Blue with dark blue leather upholstery and a matching soft top. This Mercedes-Benz is meticulously detailed inside and out, with a beautifully detailed engine bay and period-correct appointments such as a Becker radio and proper German square-weave carpets.

For the discriminating collector who seeks only the very best, the 190 SL Roadster offered here presents a rare opportunity to acquire a revered Mercedes-Benz sports car.
