Quaife to fight for Silver Cup with AF Corse in Blancpain GT Sprint Cup

Phil Quaife will drive a Ferrari 488 GT3 for AF Corse in this year’s Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup.

Managed by Amato Ferrari, AF Corse won the Am category in last year’s Blancpain Sprint Cup and has been successful in multiple GT and endurance championships since its formation in 1995.

Joining experienced Italian Lorenzo Case, 30-year-old Quaife will compete at all five rounds of the series, which gets underway in Misano next weekend (April 1-2).

As both Quaife and Case are Silver-rated drivers, they are eligible to contest the Silver Cup, which the Kent racer is aiming to win.

This will be Quaife’s first time racing in the championship, having previously competed in the Blancpain Endurance Series in 2011 and 2012.

The 2016 International Endurance Series TCR champion was impressed by his first experience of the Ferrari 488 GT3 during Tuesday’s test at Monza and is confident of fighting for victories in his debut campaign.

Phil Quaife said: “I’d like to say a huge thanks to the team for giving me this fantastic opportunity and I will be doing my upmost to have a successful season with them. Lorenzo is a great driver, with a lot of experience at several levels, so I’m very much looking forward to teaming up with him.

“On Tuesday, both Lorenzo and I were behind the wheel of the 488 for the first time, it was extremely promising. The season starts in just over a week’s time and I can’t wait to get going.

“I’m looking forward to racing at Misano and Zolder for the first time. The aim is to fight for victories at every round and ultimately winning the Silver Cup!”
