Lloyd fired-up for high-speed Thruxton thrills

Daniel Lloyd faces his toughest competition yet, as the Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship arrives at Hampshire’s notorious Thruxton circuit for high-speed thrills on the UK’s fastest circuit this coming weekend (May 6/7).

The MG Racing RCIB Insurance racer is aiming to re-ignite his championship challenge on the circuit where he impressed last season, taking points in all three races and Jack Sears Trophy honours on his debut in the Eurotech Honda Civic – a result that the 25-year-old is eager to replicate in the MG6.

“We’re heading into this weekend upbeat, but realistic;” said Lloyd. “It’s been a slow start to the season to be sure, but we had a really positive test at Croft last week and we’re quietly confident going into the weekend.”

Thruxton’s flat-out corners and sweeping corners command respect and the demanding circuit is a great leveller with cars and drivers pushed to the limit, reaching speeds of up to 160mph. “There’s nowhere else quite like Thruxton! I love the place; it’s a real racer’s circuit;”

The Yorkshireman added; “There’s literally nowhere to hide and if you get it wrong, it can go very wrong indeed! I had a great weekend here last season in the Honda on my first weekend back in the BTCC so it would be amazing to repeat that again this year and get some much needed points banked.”

The weekend’s action gets underway at Thruxton on May 6/7. Live coverage of Sunday’s (May 7) races will be broadcast in high definition on ITV4, and via the ITVhub from 11.15 – 18.20; with rounds 7, 8 and 9 shown live at 12 noon, 14.20 and 17.00.
