Round 3: Thruxton, 6-7 May

Matt Neal scored his 60th BTCC win at Thruxton, while Rob Collard and Colin Turkington recorded BMW’s 99th and 100th victories respectively.

Pole-sitter Neal delivered a faultless lights-to-flag performance in the opening race, drawing level with Andy Rouse’s tally of 60 BTCC wins – the equal-second most victories in history.

Collard then claimed his first-ever triumph at Thruxton in a truncated second encounter that included two stoppages. Then came another magic milestone as Turkington – having powered to two BTCC titles in BMW machinery – fittingly secured the memorable century for the German manufacturer.

F4 British Championship certified by FIA – powered by Ford EcoBoost

Round 3: Thruxton, 6-7 May

Carlin's Jamie Caroline made history at Thruxton by becoming the first driver to win all three races in one British F4 meeting. The Pirtek-backed racer is in the ascendancy with seven wins already this season – two more than any driver achieved in 2016.

Caroline started race one from third position but fell back to seventh with an off-track excursion. However he clawed his way back up the field, at one point passing three cars on the same lap en route to victory.

Caroline secured arguably the hardest-fought victory of his career in the second race, after a tussle with Double R Racing's Linus Lundqvist left everyone on the edge of their seats. Just hours later the championship leader was at it again; a trademark opening lap saw him propel his way into a lead from which he never looked back.

Reigning champion Henry Kitching finished second overall, having only won the last on the last round from Trevor Moffatt in a similar Corsa. Wray Jacobs won the front-wheel-drive class in fourth overall.

Last year's winner Dick Glossop finished second in class by a point from Mark Hoppe on seventh overall. All the class places were extremely closely battled over with every point counting.
