MSA Championships Update

MSA British Hill Climb Championship
Rounds 17-18: Bouley Bay, Jersey, 12 July
Rounds 19-20: Le Val des Terres, Guernsey, 15 July

At Bouley Bay Jason Mourant became the first Jersey resident to win at home since Tico Martini in 1962 and the first Jersey-born driver since Mac Daghorn in 1961. Later that day Will Hall took his first ever win at Bouley when final runner Mourant couldn’t find that last two hundredths of a second.

On Guernsey Richard Spedding took his first ever championship win then followed it up with another. The same Guernsey drivers, Darren Warwick and Nick Saunders filled the podium places each time.

Link Up Ltd MSA British Autotest Championship

Round 7: Nic Ayre Memorial Autotest (Alwoodley Motor Club), 9 July

Bright sunshine greeted the 33 competitors on the Nic Ayre Memorial Autotest, named after the former championship co-ordinator.

Richard Pinkney took a four-second lead after the first three tests, with Dave Mosey and John Moffatt close behind.

The lunchtime scoreboard, after nine tests, showed Pinkney with a commanding 15-second lead over Mosey, and Chris Chapman a further four seconds down.

The six afternoon tests were no less dramatic. Pinkney set fastest times on all six tests, while Willie Keaning broke a gearbox. Alistair Moffatt’s re-built a gear lever to secure third in class behind Pinkney and Chapman.
