Motorsport.tv Weekend Highlights July 21,22,23

After an almost unprecedented two-week break, the FIM MXGP Championship returns this weekend with LIVE coverage from round 13 in the Czech Republic as the season begins its final stretch. Tony Cairoli is well on his way to taking his ninth world motocross championship, but his rivals will take solace from the knowledge that the Italian has not won at Loket since 2012. Can he end that five-year winning drought and stretch his advantage to beyond 100 points? Find out by catching all the thrills and spills on Motorsport.tv!

Since Cairoli last won in the Czech Republic, Clement Desalle (2013), Romain Febvre (2015) and Max Nagl (2016) have managed a clean sweep, which will be a source of encouragement to Jeffrey Herlings. Battling back from a pre-season wrist injury, the Dutchman has won four of the last six opening motos of the weekend and pushed Red Bull KTM team-mate Cairoli hard in Germany, Italy and Portugal. Could a return to Eastern Europe present him with a first double win since Latvia in May? Monster Energy Kawasaki Racing’s Clement Desalle and Rockstar Energy Husqvarna’s Gautier Paulin will certainly be hoping that’s not the case. Second and third in the championship heading into the weekend, neither were at the races in Portugal last time out, allowing the in-form Herlings to close to within a point of third, and just five points behind second. With everything still to play for, make sure you don’t miss a beat!

Also in action in Loket is the FIM MX2 World Championship, with Jeremy Seewer looking to continue his recent good form and close the gap further on championship leader Pauls Jonass. After sharing victories in Portugal, could the Swiss land a decisive blow in the title chase?

Over on four wheels, don’t miss daily highlights from the Silk Way Rally as we head into the final weekend of the mammoth rally-raid. Follow all the action from every stage as crews race over the technically challenging Chinese dunes towards the ancient capital of Xi’an. Having already claimed nine-times World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb on the first outing for Peugeot's latest Dakar contender, would there be any further stings in the tail?

The terrain may not be as barren or as rough, but the Porsche Supercup’s visit to Silverstone promised equally firm competition approaching the halfway stage of the year. After becoming the first man this season to beat championship leader Michael Ammermuller at the Red Bull Ring, Porsche junior Matt Campbell arrived in the UK riding the crest of a wave. But to make it two wins on the trot, the Aussie would not only have to do the double over Ammermuller but also his Lechner team-mate Dan Cammish, the two-time Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion desperate to impress in front of his home crowd and get himself back into the title fight after a disappointing run to eighth in Austria. With a mammoth 32 identical cars on the grid, you won’t want to miss this…

On the other side of the globe, the NASCAR Xfinity Series took in the ‘Magic Mile’ at Loudon, New Hampshire. After missing out on a third-straight win last time out in Kentucky, highly-rated JR Motorsports’ rookie William Byron was looking to get back to winning ways and pile more pressure on points leader Elliot Sadler, while Modified racing star Ryan Preese hoped his first outing in the #20 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota would give him an opportunity to make a name for himself.

And if all that’s not enough, then catch highlights of the third round of the FIA European Truck Racing Championship from the Nurburgring, as reigning champion Jochen Hahn hoped his legions of home fans would spur him on to catch runaway points leader Adam Lacko. With the Eiffel Mountain’s famously unpredictable microclimate sure to produce mixed conditions, this one was sure to produce a treat…
